  • Arminio Fraga Neto

    Founding partner of Gávea, Chief Investment Officer, Chairman of the Executive Board and President of the Gavea and Gavea Jus’ investment committees. In addition, Arminio is a member of Highbridge’s board of managers, executive committee and investment committee.  From 1999 to 2002, Arminio served as Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil. From 1993 to 1998, he was a Managing Director for Soros Fund Management in New York, focusing on emerging markets. Additionally, Arminio worked as a Director for the Central Bank of Brazil, and a Vice President for Salomon Brothers in New York with a focus on emerging markets arbitrage. Prior to that, he was Chief-Economist at Banco Garantia. Arminio has taught regularly at top universities at home (the Catholic University (PUC-RJ) and Fundação Getúlio Vargas, both in Rio de Janeiro) and abroad (Columbia University and Wharton School) and has written academic papers for local and international publications. Arminio is currently Chairman of the Board of BMF/Bovespa, and, among other associations, a member of the Group of Thirty and the Council on Foreign Relations. Arminio holds a PhD in Economics from Princeton University as well as M.A. and B.A. degrees in Economics from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC-RJ) in Rio de Janeiro.
